Into the Unknown: The Paramedics’ Journey
An Unscripted Exploration of Resilience and Healing
In the spring of 2022, the documentary crew of Into the Unknown: The Paramedics’ Journey spent four days filming at The Ranch and a local fire station, capturing the transformative work of Chiron Center, Inc. and the CTRN Team. This groundbreaking documentary explores innovative approaches to trauma mental health support for community paramedics and their loved ones.
Through unscripted footage, the film highlights psychoeducational workshops facilitated by Chiron, including somatic-based practices like art, aroma, and equine-assisted therapy. Medics from Medford and Ashland Fire Departments, alongside their spouses, shared openly and authentically on camera, providing an intimate glimpse into the challenges they face and the resilience they cultivate.
Behind the Scenes: Filming at The Ranch
The Chiron Experience
At the Ranch
Workshops at The Ranch showcased the power of nature-based healing, including equine-assisted activities guided by CTRN Founder Anne E. Kellogg, alongside Lynn Thomas from Arenas for Change (ARCH). The tranquil sanctuary provided a transformative space for participants to explore resilience, connection, and renewal.
In the Community
Filming at a local fire station captured the practical and impactful mental health support offered to paramedics within their own professional environment. These sessions highlighted Chiron’s commitment to meeting participants where they are, both physically and emotionally.
Coming Spring 2025
Following an initial screening at the San Diego International Film Festival, Into the Unknown is anticipated for international release in Spring 2025. The documentary features key moments filmed at The Ranch and emphasizes the profound impact of trauma-informed care, human connection, and nature-based practices.
