Equine Program Director & Ranch Hand
Finn Strong
For Finn Strong (they/them/theirs), animals are more than companions—they are lifelong teachers and powerful sources of connection and healing. Growing up in Southern Oregon, Finn’s passion for animals began early, with their first riding lessons at age five. As a member of the Oregon High School Equestrian Team (OHSET), Finn honed their skills and developed a deep appreciation for equine care and the bond between humans and animals.
Now, as Equine Program Director at The Ranch, Finn draws on a lifetime of experience working with animals, their certification in equine first aid, and a deep understanding of animal behavior and care. Their compassionate and evidence-based approach ensures that every horse and barnyard resident thrives in a nurturing environment. Finn’s sharp observation skills allow them to notice subtle changes in behavior, diet, or energy, ensuring that each animal’s physical and emotional needs are met with precision and care.
Finn’s commitment to animal well-being is rooted in personal experience. From working with their own rescue horse of six years to tending to the diverse animals at The Ranch, they embody advocacy and connection at every level. Their ability to form profound relationships with animals makes them a fierce champion for their care and quality of life.
Outside of their role at The Ranch, Finn is a part-time student at Southern Oregon University and a talented photographer, capturing the beauty of the region and the unique bond between people and animals. Their belief in the healing power of animal connection drives their dedication to creating a space where both animals and humans can find renewal and growth.
Whether mentoring others in equine care, tending to a horse’s needs, or advancing The Ranch’s mission, Finn embodies expertise, compassion, and a deep passion for the vital role animals play in fostering mental health and well-being.
